New to the Area?
At Stormberg Orthodontics, our mission is to make getting a new, beautiful smile as easy and convenient as possible
Your San Diego Orthodontist
Dr. Stormberg and our highly trained team, work hard to design specialized treatment plans that are a perfect fit for each patient’s smile, and we strive to make every visit to our office a pleasant, care-free experience. But we don’t just make orthodontic care easy – we also make it easy to transfer to or from our office.
Transferring Orthodontists – Simplified
We are constantly grateful to our military, and we consider it a privilege to give back by helping them achieve a beautiful smile – but we also want to make the process of switching to or from our office as easy as possible. Whether you’re transferring to or from MCAS Miramar, Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, or Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, we’ll take the hassle out of changing orthodontists. We’ll request records from your previous orthodontist, who will notify us exactly where you are in treatment. If you have records in hand, go ahead and bring them in and we’ll put them into our system.
If you’re a student starting San Diego State University (SDSU), UC San Diego (UCSD), University of San Diego (USD) or any of our local colleges, we know you’ve got enough on your mind – so let us make switching orthodontists simple.
Finding a New Orthodontist
Alternatively, if you’re transferring away from San Diego or moving away to enter the workforce somewhere else, we’ll help you keep your treatment going without a hitch. We have an orthodontic book of the world, so we can find a great orthodontist for you, and we’ll tell you where they went to school, whether they’re board-certified, what year they graduated, and everything else you need to make a great decision on your new orthodontist. If you transfer and aren’t feeling great about your new doctor, just call us and we’ll help you find a new one that’s a perfect fit. We want you to achieve the smile you deserve – no matter who it’s with!

Answers To Your FAQs From Dr. Kurt Stormberg
American Association of Orthodontists recommend you should schedule your child’s first appointment by age 7. Orthodontic treatment and a child’s growth can complement each other. By timing orthodontic treatment to predictable stages of dental development, the orthodontist may be able to take advantage of your child’s growth and development. Some problems that can be treated quite well in a growing child may require corrective surgery or permanent teeth to be extracted if treated after growth has occurred.
Before you leave, be sure to have all the necessary information needed to complete our new patient forms, including your insurance information. Then, Dr. Stormberg will complete the examination, which can include X-rays and photographs, to properly diagnose you or your child’s condition. If you want to learn even more about what happens, you can find more information on our First Visit page.
Dr. Stormberg will thoroughly explain your options to you after he completes the exam, and will recommend the best course of treatment. You’ll learn the answers to five important questions during your consultation appointment, including:
- Is there an orthodontic issue, and if so, what is it?
- What treatment is needed to correct the problem? Can braces and/or Invisalign correct the problem?
- Will any teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- How much will treatment cost?
We can only determine treatment costs after your initial consultation is completed, as each patient’s case is unique. You can learn more about our Financing & Insurance policies on our website, or speak to one of our staff members at the office. We’ll review your financing options with you, and will work with you to maximize your insurance benefits.
Adult orthodontics is becoming more common, as orthodontic treatment helps increase overall happiness level, health, and self-esteem. It’s never too late for a beautiful smile!
